For southern—hospitality and for anyone else out there who hasn’t seen it yet.
So the armchair pass said that it would be ready for download on the 8th of December. I’ve been checking my email every 5 minutes but still no download link. Anyone else had this or am I misunderstanding and its coming out later?
I caved and bought the armchair pass for the Celtic Thunder Benefit concert. And I really shouldn’t have because I need to save my money to start paying off my loans, but feck it. It’s Celtic Thunder.
I’m excited for Christmas because it means I can listen to Celtic Thunder’s Christmas songs. I can’t believe I only heard about them in March. It feels like I’ve been following them for years!
So tonight I went to go see the wondrous Celtic Thunder and I wanted to write down what I thought while it’s still fresh in my mind.
Firstly, and very sadly, Keith wasn’t there because he’s launching his new album. While I’m really excited for him and his new album, I was really disappointed because he’s the main reason that I bought the tickets. His songs are all my favourites. I love The Island so much (it is where I got my Tumblr name from…) and just all his other songs are so amazing. I think he has an amazing energy on stage and it was such a disappointment that he wasn’t there. But I did buy his new album and I’m listening to it now, so I guess that goes a little way to making up for it. And after I got over the disappointment in the first few songs, I did really enjoy the shows.
They played some of the really good songs and one of the things that I really liked seeing them live was I was able to see them more indvidually and get a greater appreciation for them. Like before for me it was Celtic Thunder and Keith and now I recognise all of them and know there names etc when before I only vaguely knew their names. And I know that this makes me sound like a bad fan, but bear in mind that I did only find out about them in March.
Anyways, I loved, loved, loved, loved, loved, loved Ryan. I never really paid attention to him but he has such great stage presence and he just seems really funny and really cool. Every time he was on stage my eyes were just drawn to him. He has an amazing voice and he was really sweet and thanked all the fans for all their kind messages when he was ill. He’s now one of my favourites.
I also really liked Emmet. He’s such a cheeky little chap and even though he seemed a little nervous at the beginning, he really shone during his solos and he has a STUNNING voice. I really could listen to him all day. There were a few notes that he just held, and held, and held, and held and it was awesome. I loved him during irish molly and yeah, he’s just really cool.
George just seems like a real father. I would love him to be my father. He obviously has a lot of love for what he does and isn’t afraid to show it. He sang Old Man and talked about what it meant to him and gah, I just think he’s such a cool guy. Like a good, solid, nice guy. And he has a good voice. Couldn’t get more perfect. Shame he’s married.
I’m not to fond of Neil. He was never my favourite and I realized tonight that it’s because his voice just sounds weak next to the others. By himself it doesn’t sound to bad but next to the rich sounds of the other guys, it’s just not that impressive. It’s a good voice, just nothing amazing. And there’s always going to be someone that’s not your favourite.
Lastly there’s Colm, the new guy. I really liked him. He has a good voice and he seems like a sound guy. He sang Home and then in the end incorporated the name of the town they were performing into it. He just did sweet things like that and I really like him. I think he’s a good addition to the group and I’m excited to see what else they do. I’m also just really excited about the next tour. They said they’ve recorded some really cool songs and they’re really proud of it and I just want to see what they bring next!
For now though I’m going to have to be happy with what I saw tonight, which I was, and with Keith’s new album, which I love (check out Don’t Forget About Me) and just with my love of Celtic Thunder. They really are one of my favourite bands and I’m so glad that I discovered them and I get to hear their amazing music.
All in all, a great night and I can’t wait till I get to see them next! And hopefully Keith will be there.
little celtic thunder things #11: Keith’s original songs—-Lauren & I especially, but he also writes a lot of songs that he sings outside of Celtic Thunder. He’s so talented.
little celtic thunder things #43: When Damian starts walking down the stairs early in the “It’s Entertainment” version of “Ireland’s Call” and Paul holds him back.
